These gentle giants are part of many worldwide mythologies, legends and classic stories.

This step-by-step tutorial on how to tense a whale will help you have fun while you learn how to draw one of these amazing creatures.

How to Draw A Whale

Step 1

To begin this guide to drawing a whale, let’s start with a simple stripe that will form the whale’s rear. It will be quite a curvy stripe, as seen in the connection image.

You can see how this line fits in with the rest of the image in the images below.

Once this line is done, move on to step 2!

Step 2

In this next step, we will start building on top of the forest design. Using the stripe from step 1, use a round, curved stripe on the left side to create the whale’s head.

Then, you can draw the whale’s forked tail on the right side.

Because of the angle at which the whale is, the tail is quite small compared to the rest of the body, which shows some perspective.

Step 3

Building on what you drew in the previous steps, you can use another curved line with a sharp point near the whale’s belly to create a fin.

Once you’ve drawn the fin, you can draw a line from it to the tail to create a belly for your whale drawing.

Before proceeding to the next step, draw another line to create a large mouth for your whale.

Step 4

In this part of our how to draw a whale guide, you can tense an eye for the whale. Whales have rather small eyes analogized to the remainder of their bodies.

The eye can be drawn with a small circle containing a black dot.

Once you have the eye, you can complete this step by drawing another fin next to the one you drew previously.

Since this second palette is farther away, you can make it smaller than the first.

Step 5

We’ll start adding some final details in the next few steps of this guide.

First, using the reference image, you can draw some thin lines in the area under the face and work your way down to the fins.

These small lines give a wrinkled appearance to the abdominal crease.

Next, you can draw some lines on the face and fins to get more detail on your whale.

Step 6

We’re almost in the final stage of this guide on how to draw a whale! Before the last step, let’s add some final details to the drawing.

This is a step where we will show you some details you can add, but it’s also one where you can get creative and add some details of your own!

We added small, thin lines to the whale’s tail and body for our design to give it a more textured and wrinkled look.

With those details added, you can now think of your ideas to add! You have lots of options to get creative with this!

For example, you could draw additional marine life around the whale, like fish, coral, seaweed, or anything else you can think of!

You could draw the sea’s surface on the whale and have a boat sail on it. It would be a great way to illustrate the size of your whale.

Step 7

This brings us to the final step of this guide on how to draw a Hale, and for that, you can go wild and have tons of fun being creative!

We’ve only shown you one of the many different ways you can color your whale drawing, but feel free to use whatever colors you love!

Even if you want a more realistic whale, they come in so many different types and color combinations

that you would have many options to color your whale. You can even search the internet for pictures of real whales for inspiration!

However, if you want a more stylistic image, you can use one of your cool favorite colors to complement your whale.

Once you’ve decided on the colors, you must choose your preferred art medium.

I would use some watercolor paint to give this image a softer look, but there’s no right or wrong way to color! It would help if you used any artistic medium that you want to use to create a stunning image.
